This is an 'FYI' for anyone who has known a Trade Wars player and icon that, for the past few years, goes by the name of bob.  bob passed away at the young age of 51 on April 1, 2008 of yet unknown causes.  wow... hard to fathom... I just talked to him a few days ago... bob will be missed. He was not only my regular corpie, he was my friend. Much of what I learned in Trade Wars is because of his efforts to make me a better player. Yes, he pushed the limits of the game. If there was a loophole in the rules, he'd find it and use it. And although many of you may not agree with me, he never cheated. I've been his corpie for well over two years on a very regular basis... This game and the entire TW community is a better place for having him around as long as we did. Most of the time he'd use an alias, but we all knew who he was, as his game play was unmistakable. I can only hope to be half the TW player he was.

I now give a farwell salute to one my most trusted corpies, dear friend, and one of the most knowlegable players this game will ever know. He SD'd many of the "elite", taught many a newbie, and should forever be remembered as one of the most colorful players to grace the TW world...

Bye bob, you will be sorely missed...

I agree Bob was a good player... and the limits he pushed rules, or a truce could be questioned, I did enjoy the games played against him.
I also agree he will be missed, and I am sorry to hear this news...

Thanks Zark...

For anyone who might care, here's an update as to what happened with bob:

bob, (Ron Rames) died on Monday, March 31st, 2008 (sitting at his computer...) of several health related issues including, enlarged heart and hardening of the arteries secondary to diabetes, all of which led to a heart attack. As best as we can tell, I was the last person to actually talk to him (over yahoo IM). Nothing special, just discussing a game (as we often did). He was his normal, brash-self at that time (prolly the way he'd prefer to be remembered anyway).

Again, thank you for your kind words, bob will indeed be missed...

holy smokes.....i just read this. I am stunned and crushed. I may not have known bob as well as some, but have been playing with him recently....till he got his new job.... All of the above is true. He did take the time out to help and never got frustrated. He was a great guy and mentor. He will truly be missed. I cant come up with any more words now. Rest in peace my man.....

One last mention about bob's passing. I received an email from his mother and wanted to share it with everyone...

- I am the Mom of Ron Ames that you all knew as Bob. as well as other aliases - A friend passed along to me all the kind and wonderful comments some of the players have made concerning my son. I tried to post a reply on your Trade Wars site and found out I have to be registered and have a password - so I happened upon your post also.
Ron did pass away suddenly of a heart attack on either Sunday or Monday. We are not sure which. He was found by a co worker on April 1 on the floor. FM was correct in his post of April 5. He was 51 years of age.
I just wanted to say Thank You to all of you for your kind words. Myself and the rest of our family is torn up over his death. We don't believe he even knew he had a bad heart. The last time we were together was Easter Sunday and he was his normal ,happy self. I wish I had one last chance to tell him good bye and get one of his big hugs.
Remember him the way you knew him - he enoyed his games.
